MISE EN SCENE ANGEL
Emerging from Winnipeg’s indie culture, Canadian duo Mise en Scene release new single ‘Angel’ along with an entertaining lyric video which trails the band’s members through the streets of Los Angeles. If you’re not here for the tour courtesy of guitarist/vocalist Stef Johnson and drummer Jodi Dunlop, then you’re certainly here for gunge-tinted dream pop that seeps through every pore of ‘Angel’. This combination of 90’s garage rock and Canadiand dream pop is essential to Mise en Scene’s sound, and it’s one they use to celebrate the everyday heroes that all too often go unrecognized. As Johnson relays: “I realized a few years ago that there are real life angels in this world, people who come into your life and accept and love you for exactly who you are. I’m not a religious person, but I love that sentiment and metaphor. This song is about the uncertain joy in realizing these real life angels exist, and the cathartic recognition of who those real life angels are in your life….We all deserve real life angels. We are all worth it, and we are all good enough to love and be loved. This song is about the joy in accepting that love.” Watch the pair roam Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier and on the Hollywood Walk of Fame while soundtrack to this excellent song below. - Hannah Thacker
